Our client is a leading North American system integrator that specializes in data center infrastructure solutions for data center consolidation, virtualization, backup, disaster recover, managed services, and professional services. They are seeking a talented Post-Sales NetApp Engineer for their Professional Service delivery team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting NetApp and VMware solutions -- and be willing to travel in across the Eastern region about 75% of the time on high visibility client projects. Position reports to a great manager that believes in work/life balance.
Locations: Based in one of these cities, with easy access to airport: Cary NC, Washington DC, Rockville MD, Atlanta GA, Nashville TN
Responsibilities: As a Professional Services Consultant you will work to meet the requirements of clients by providing and deploying technical architectures that deliver the highest value add on solutions. You will be expected to position and deliver company marketed solution sets and other custom consulting. This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with good oral and written communication skills. Individuals will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Your overall focus areas will be in supporting and developing processes and systems for quick and thorough delivery of customer solutions, provide systems configuration recommendations, and apply your background and experience to deliver solutions to technical problems.
Overall scope of this position includes planning and delivering major portions of the implementation effort. Specific responsibilities include:
Build and maintain confidence of colleagues and customers
Be able to conduct small to medium engagements with customers independently
Maintain and develop the knowledge of the entire NetApp product line
Conduct pre-packaged NetApp consulting solutions in a timely and effective manner
Assist in the development of standard reusable NetApp productized consulting service offerings, including definition of tasks, deliverables and standard estimates
Help to document best practices in developing and deploying NetApp solutions, and feed them into our knowledge base
Provide regular update/report to the team
Identify customer needs and requirements.
Provide technical consultation and disseminate product information to the sales team.
Deliver on consulting tasks (e.g., installation and configuration of 3rd party applications)
Requirements:
Proficiency in one or more of the following NetApp Solutions:
SAN, Exchange, Databases (Oracle, SQL), DR/BC, Virtualization, or Compliance
1 or more years of consulting and/or project management experience implementing storage solutions.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment.
Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.
Creative approach to problem solving and excellent analytical/problem solving abilities.
Broad exposure to a variety of technologies/concepts in a distributed environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, customer, business and negotiation skills.
It is critical for this individual to understand the customer's technical environment in order to be able to deliver effective solutions. Typical customer technical environments can include:
Operating Systems: Unix/Linux and Windows systems administration functions including domain structures, file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, and general security.
Networking: Local area network technology, specifically Ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons.
Storage: SAN and NAS storage communications including caching and streaming technologies.
Protocols: iSCSI, FCP, NFS, and CIFS
Virtual environments: VMware
Travel to the prospective customer's sites as necessary. Up to 75%+ travel required.
Systems admin knowledge of VMware and/or Netbackup is a plus.
